Subsequently, due to the widespread expansion and expansion of social service activities, it was promoted as a permanent ethnic organizational section of the government in the year 3 and was recognized as the Directorate of Social Services.

In the light of Article 3 (d) of the Constitution of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, the Directorate is recognized as a guide in the implementation of the Government's intention to fulfill its constitutional commitment to various backward classes. The role of this department is greatly appreciated abroad in introducing the elderly, widows and husbands abandoned women allowance, allowance for disabled people, education scholarship for students with disabilities, honorary allowance for freedom fighters, natural disaster and risk management programs.

The UN is playing an active role in the implementation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the Child Rights Charter, the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and so on. Although initially working with the Welfare Approach, the Department is currently taking on new activities on the Right Based and Empowerment Approach.

By implementing a number of development projects and programs of this department, the service is expanding its reach to the target population and establishing a unique example of public-private partnerships (limited government support for projects undertaken by private enterprises). The department has a fruitful endeavor in conducting advocacy activities through celebrations of national and internationally recognized days and years.
